Vestibular & Inner Ear Deficits
Vestibular dysfunction occurs when the inner ear organs that help control balance are damaged due to injury or disease. This can lead to dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, and reliance on vision or muscle feedback for balance. Over time, people may develop compensatory movement patterns that worsen symptoms, including headaches, muscle tension, and fatigue. Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) is an exercise-based program designed to retrain the brain to process signals from the vestibular system in coordination with vision and proprioception, restoring balance and stability.

How We Help
At Excel Physical Therapy, a qualified physical therapist conducts a thorough evaluation, including medical history, posture, balance, gait, and movement compensation patterns. Assessments may also include head-eye coordination testing to evaluate how well the eyes track moving objects with or without head movement. Based on the findings, an individualized plan is designed, including targeted head, body, and eye exercises performed in the clinic and at home.
