In recent years, the sport of running has once again gained popularity and much attention has been paid to injury prevention. This has largely been focused on foot strike and footwear as major causes of running ailments, however other mechanical issues and muscle weaknesses play major roles in running injuries.
Here at Excel Physical Therapy we offer a full movement analysis for runners of all levels. You will be assessed on your overall movement by going through a series of mobility and stability movements designed to test, record and analyze your specific body movement patterns.
We will conduct a full physical evaluation, which will include tests to determine:
- Functional strength
- Balance and stability
- Alignment and foot structure
You will be asked to walk and run, which we may record so the therapist can make a full analysis and evaluation.
Physical therapy recommendations may include:
- Therapeutic exercises
- Manual interventions
- Neuromuscular retraining
- Footwear recommendations
- Guidelines for training
We ask that you are open to our findings and suggestions. Remember, there is no ‘right’ way to run, but rather a ‘right’ way for you to run. Our goal is to provide you with the tools to help you return to full activity and get you back to running pain free.
